Mission Resources – Playing games for a tomorrow
The Netzwerk Naturwissen invites you to an extraordinary evening – right in the middle of the museum, beneath the awe-inspiring dinosaurs, we’ll come together to… PLAY GAMES.
What may seem at first glance like a fun pastime will become a serious opportunity for dialogue: Because games can do more than entertain – they spark reflection, foster conversation, and open up new perspectives on the big questions and challenges of our time.
Under the watchful eyes of the dinosaurs, we combine joy with necessity. Board games become tools that make complex societal topics such as the climate crisis, sustainable economies, resource use, and social dynamics accessible and tangible through play. They reflect current values, conflicts, and pop culture trends – making them a perfect fit for a museum that engages with the sociopolitical challenges of the human-environment relationship in a lively way.
As part of a brief introductory talk, we’ll explore current trends in board games: What does it say about our times when ecological and social issues suddenly appear on the gameboard? Which topics make it into games – and why? How does this connect to political discourse, pop culture, or collective longings?
Afterwards, a selection of board games will be available to try out and play. Together, we’ll explore how game mechanics and themes are interwoven and what they tell us about our world – and the one we want to shape.
Whether you’re a board game enthusiast or simply curious – come by, play with us, and discover how multifaceted game worlds can be when they intersect with real life.
